Paul Sugg founded EastPoint Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. in order to provide the attention to detail and outstanding service that Paul wanted to achieve. EastPoint P & O is a full-service orthotic and prosthetic facility, specializing in both pre-fabricated and custom-made orthoses and prostheses. We use state-of-the-art technology, such us our Biosculptor Laser Scanner, and we are also the ONLY North Carolina facility to offer mobile services with our fully outfitted Ford Transit Connect vans. We want to provide products at a reasonable cost with the highest quality in the most time efficient manner possible. We value our patients and take pride in our customer service. We insist on the keeping the highest standards of education and accreditation.

Paul Sugg

President of EastPoint

Paul Sugg is the President of EastPoint Prosthetics and Orthotics, Inc and has been in the Prosthetics and Orthotics field since 1993. A graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, Paul completed his Prosthetics and Orthotics requirements at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL. He is one of a handful of clinicians that have the distinction of being a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.

Paul is also a published author in multiple physical therapy journals, physiatry journals, and medical textbooks. He is an adjunct professor for local universities and guest lectures there as well as at other educational venues. Paul loves spending time with his wife, Emily, and son, Tyler. He is an active member of his local church, and enjoys doing medical missions and flying.


W. Brent Wright

CP BOC/O Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist

W. Brent Wright is an ABC-certified prosthetist and a BOC-certified orthotist. He has been in the field since he started as a technician at age 16. Brent graduated Cum Laude from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, with a degree in Healthcare Management and pursued his certification in Prosthetics at California State University. Brent fulfilled his residency requirements in Charlotte, NC, where he took an interest in Prosthetics, Wound Care Management and Orthoses for Pediatrics.

Brent enjoys traveling to Guatemala to provide prostheses through his nonprofit organization LifEnabled, Inc. (www.lifenabled.org). Brent also blogs at lifenabled.com about tips and tricks for the Orthotic and Prosthetic field as well as his adventures making prostheses in Guatemala. Brent lives in Raleigh, NC with his lovely wife, Meredith, and his three children, Connor, Carson and Kaitlyn.


John Clarke

CPO Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist

John Clarke joins EastPoint with a passion for reaching amputees that are not served or are under-served with prosthetics. “I pursue being among the very best in the Prosthetics field, and what I have found in that pursuit are patients limited by their prosthesis. I am dismayed to find patients who have been dismissed, dropped though the cracks or given up on. I am determined, over the course of time, that no amputee in eastern North Carolina will be denied the opportunity to experience independence starting at EastPoint.”

John is a graduate of Furman University in Greenville, SC, and completed his Prosthetics and Orthotics requirements at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL. He is an ABC Certified Prosthetist Orthotist and a past Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotist and Prosthetists.  John blogs about life and prosthetic  musings at clarkeperformance.com.  His wife Susan is thrilled to be back in the Carolinas. John and Susan homeschool their three active, amazing children, Samuel, Katherine and Thomas.


Nazaly Miller

PT and BOC/O Certified Orthotist

Nazaly Miller is a physical therapist and BOC-certified orthotist with over 25 years experience working with children of all ages with developmental delays and neurological disorders. Nazaly graduated from Ithaca College and has worked in hospital, home, school and clinic settings, including Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Easter Seals UCP of North Carolina and Raleigh Neurology Associates.

Nazaly is very focused on ensuring that children with physical challenges experience inclusion in their home, school and community lives. This led to advocating for the use of customized adaptive equipment and customized orthotic devices as a means to maximize mobility, independence and community accessibility. Nazaly recently received her orthotist certification and is very excited to expand her knowledge of customized orthoses. She lives in Holly Springs, NC, with her husband, two teenaged children and a cat that invited himself onto the porch.


Brett Decker

CP Prosthetist and Orthotist

Brett Decker is an ABC-Certified Prosthetist Orthotist who has been with EastPoint since August of 2013. Brett graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation science and a certificate in assistive technologies. Brett then went on to receive his master’s degree in prosthetics and orthotics from the University of Pittsburgh. Brett has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the EastPoint family where he strives to serve others and takes great joy in helping people reach their goals.

Brett was born and raised in Indiana, Pa., a small college town in western Pennsylvania, which is mostly known for being the “Christmas Tree Capital of the World” as well as the birthplace of Jimmy Stewart. Brett met his beautiful wife, Rachel, while studying at the University of Pittsburgh. Brett and Rachel reside in Wilmington, NC, and are looking forward to starting a family in the near future. Brett and Rachel love living by the coast and spending time on the beach, but they will always make time to cheer on their Pittsburgh sports teams. Go Steelers!!!


Louis Brown

CPO Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist and Occupational Therapist

Louis Brown began his Allied Health career as an Occupational Therapist, educated at East Carolina University.  He gained in depth rehabilitation experience at Baptist Hospital and Wake Forest School of Medicine. He specialized in Orthopedics and hand therapy along with burn and rheumatologic disorders. Louis attend Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois for further advanced education in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics.

Louis joined EastPoint after multiple years of service in Raleigh, NC for a large national company.  He has an extensive array of subspecialty certificates in advanced biomechanics techniques of prosthetic and orthotic fitting design and component application.  Louis Enjoys providing personal care for each individual’s unique needs.  His base of focus in service is taken from Galatians 6:9, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time you will reap a harvest, if we do not give up.”

In his spare time Louis enjoys spending time with Becky, his wife of 34 years.   He enjoys playing tennis and he also has a heart for providing prostheses globally.


Chris Baughman

CP BOC/O Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist

Chris Baughman is an ABC-certified Prosthetist and a BOC-certified Orthotist.  He graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and completed his certification in Prosthetics at California State University.  Chris finished his residency in Pittsburgh, PA working directly with the local Veterans Administration Amputee Clinic.  During this time, Chris fostered his communication and trade skills under his brother Matt Baughman, who is an CPO and above knee amputee himself.

During his prosthetic program, he was introduced to a new friend and a future coworker, Brent Wright.  This is a wonderful testimony to the magnificent plan that the Lord has in store for us, even when we don’t know it!

Chris enjoys  spending his leisure time with his wife, Maria and two sons, Braden and Chase.  They can be found anywhere outdoors whether playing golf, camping, fishing or at the beach.  But foremost, they are strong believers in their faith and love for the Lord, which all glory is given unto Him.


Christine Hill

ABC Prosthetic and Orthotic Resident

Christine is a recent graduate of the California State University Orthotics and Prosthetic Master Program and joins EastPoint Prosthetics and Orthotics to pursue her ABC certification. Christine first heard about orthotics and prosthetics as a graphic design major at California Baptist University. After working in an O&P facility for a summer she followed God’s direction and decided to change her career goals to pursue orthotics and prosthetics.

She enjoys connecting with people and has a passion for serving and meeting the needs of others. Born and raised in California, Christine and her husband Adam are excited to be in Eastern North Carolina and embarking on this new adventure.


Penny Tripp

BOC Certified Pedorthist

Penny Tripp is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Kinston, NC she is now a BOC Certified Pedorthist, Certified Orthotic Fitter and Certified Mastectomy Fitter. Penny has had the benefit of practicing in several different settings from the west coast and now back home.   She brings several years of experience to Eastpoint.  Penny is very dedicated to her patients and strives to help them overcome thier physical challenges and live out all of their hopes and dreams.

When Penny is not with her patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff and precious grandchildren Sophie and Gage.  She carries a tremendous joy for the Lord and enjoys singing His praises in choir!


Jennifer Miles

ABC Prosthetic and Orthotic Resident

Jennifer Miles joins Eastpoint Prosthetics and Orthotics as a recent graduate of the California State University Orthotics and Prosthetics Master Program.  She is pursuing her ABC certification in prosthetics and orthotics.  Born and raised in Michigan, she went to Michigan State University and received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.  It was at Michigan State University where she met her husband, Justin. Justin is excited to be back in North Carolina where he was born.  Growing up in a military family, he has moved a lot and is happy to be back in the Carolinas.  Jennifer is thrilled to start this new chapter in her life with her husband and cat, Lidstrom.

Jennifer is an avid hockey fan and always roots for the Detroit Red Wings.  Her husband is a Carolina Panthers fan and she is looking forward to seeing a game with him.  Let’s Go Red Wings!


Tiffany Harders

ABC Prosthetic and Orthotic Resident


Tiffany is a recent graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine’s Orthotics and Prosthetics Program and joins EastPoint Prosthetics and Orthotics to pursue her ABC certification. Born and raised in a farming community in South Central Nebraska, her desire to be a part of a profession where she could work her hands and help others lead her to the O&P field. During this journey, she was given the opportunity to participate in a medical mission to Guatemala and looks forward to doing similar work in the future.

Tiffany is an animal lover and enjoys reading, going for hikes, and watching and participating in sports. She is looking forward to her residency here in North Carolina and seeing where else God’s path with take her.


Melissa O’Meary

Executive Assistant

Melissa O’Merry, has been with us since the beginning and is a strong patient advocate.She goes above and beyond the call of duty to take care of our patients. She has extensive experience in billing in collections as well as patient management. Melissa stays up-to-date on the current billing practices by participating in continuing education classes. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris and daughter Spencer. She is an active member of her local church.


Rhonda Batt

Director of First Impressions

Rhonda and her husband Rich along with their three Yorkies moved to the area from a small town in northern Pennsylvania. They came to NC to be near to their daughters and grandkids.

Rhonda enjoys going to the beach, gardening, reading, crafting and being out in nature.  Spending her free time with family and friends is a high-priority and her greatest joy.

Rhonda has been a great addition to the Eastpoint family. She believes we are blessed every day!  One of the poems she has up in the office is:

Nelda Ezzell

Office Administrator

Born and raised in Kinston, Nelda has been married 22 years to her high school sweetheart, Steven. They have two boys, Lucas 14 and Gabe 12 that attend Bethel Christian Academy.  Nelda is an active member of Groundbreakers Ministries, serving on her church board, doing sermon and music presentations as well as outreach ministries.  Working in the medical field for over 15 years, she enjoys greeting and communicating with patients. Her spare time consists of church functions, family, school and sports activities of her boys.  She strives to be a positive influence that can help to impact others and make a difference in the lives of many.


Crystal Johnson

Office Assistant

Crystal Johnson is a bilingual (English and Spanish) office assistant and will often be one of your first points of contact when you call or visit the Kinston office. Her role in our office is of utmost importance, and her multitasking abilities range from answering phones and making appointments to translating or stocking inventory.

Crystal grew up locally as a farmer’s daughter and attended Mt. Calvary Christian Academy. She received a scholarship to play volleyball at Lenoir Community College, where she attended for two years, and is currently pursuing a nursing degree from Pitt Community College. From there, she plans to obtain her bachelor’s degree and minor in Spanish. She also attends Gateway Christian Center in Winterville, NC. If you can’t find Crystal in school, church or the office, you may be able to find her in the woods, squirrel hunting, which is one of her favorite pastimes.


Tyler Sugg

Clinical and Fabrication Assistant

Tyler Sugg works as an assistant in the clinical and fabrication realms of prosthetics and orthotics. He enjoys the 3-D aspects of fabrication in prosthetics. He has grown up in the field, as his father owns the company, and is a student at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, where he studies Psychology and Spanish. Tyler is active in his local church and with his youth group, and he’s participated in missions work in California, El Salvador, and Guatemala. In his spare time, Tyler enjoys playing tennis and shooting handguns. After his education, he hopes to pursue a career in Psychology helping to join Hispanic and American communities.



Gail N. Sugg


Gail N. Sugg serves as the bookkeeper for EastPoint Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. She has been with the company since 2009. Upon graduation from Greene Central High School in Snow Hill, NC, she attended Atlantic Christian College, now known as Barton College, in Wilson, NC. Her first job was at DuPont in Wilmington, NC, where she served as a staff stenographer.

After moving back home to eastern North Carolina, Gail worked at L.L. Murphrey Company in Lizzie, NC, for 27 years as office manager. She works closely with her husband, Mike, a licensed general contractor and owner of M.T. Sugg Company in Snow Hill, NC. Gail and Mike have one daughter, Tracy, who lives in Winterville, NC, and is a paralegal at Ricci Law Firm. Gail enjoys reading, boating and spending time with her pets. She is a member of Oakmont Baptist Church in Greenville, NC.


Donald Johnson

Donald Johnson graduated from Pitt Community College with degrees in General Office Technology and Healthcare Management. He works full-time at Vidant Health as an insurance specialist and also works part-time at both EastPoint Prosthetics & Orthotics in Kinston, NC, and Orthotics and Prosthetics East in Greenville, NC, as a billing specialist. He is happily married to his wife, Leigh Johnson, and has a 12-year-old daughter, Victoria. Donald is a Christian man, and his passion is his faith in Jesus Christ.


Ronald Johnson

Ronald Johnson joined the EastPoint staff in December 2011. He graduated from Pitt Community College in 2003 with an Associate’s degree in Healthcare Management Technology. He brings to our staff 10 years of experience with billing and reimbursement. Ronald is well versed when it comes to having insurance billing or coding issues when your claim is sent to your insurance company. If you have any concerns about your bill, Ronald will work with you to have your issue resolved in a timely manner.

In his spare time, Ronald enjoys singing in the choir at his church and working in the infant nursery. He is a dedicated family man who loves his wife, Michelle, and two little princesses, Emily and Savannah, who keep him extremely busy.
